Presenting – “Hunting Adeline”- the second book in the “Cat and Mouse” series. Well, you have to read the first book first ofcourse and after reading that you will definitely read this. So, no convincing need. But as always, I can’t keep myself from talking about my favorite books. Not unless u tie me to my bed. Which would be considered flirting in my corrupted mind. So yeah here we go……
Also, Carlton said that this book is significantly darker than the first and to take there warning seriously as your mental health matters. Your reaction could be – How darker could it get? (Umm, just u wait, kiddo). My honest reaction was – seriously? Who take these warnings seriously? We are already corrupted what more could go wrong or right (up to you how u see it). I think anything could happen in a book and that anything is good as long as the book has a happy ending. Simple, right?
The Diamond
This time, we’re following Adeline, who’s still dealing with the aftermath of the chaos from the first book. Her life is anything but ordinary as she suffers the torture, one feels in human trafficking, for almost three months. However, Adeline is no damsel in distress. She becomes the most badass bitch you could have ever seen and help Zade in cleansing the world. She’s strong, resilient, and refuses to be a victim, which is something I absolutely loved about her. Her character development throughout the book is phenomenal – she’s not just reacting to the chaos around her; she’s actively shaping her own destiny. (I guess I’m having my first girl crush.)
The names of the books are corresponding to Adeline’s behavior – she was haunted by her stalker and the dangerous world in the first book but she was hunting the dangerous world in her second book. Careful bad guys, Adeline could be watching.
The Hunter
However, one couldn’t easily overcome the traumas which Adeline suffered from. She also broke into pieces after everything but here comes our hero who was with her in every step of her healing process. Zade is one of those character you can’t help but be drawn to. This point was so captivating as Zade’s presence made everything tolerable in Adeline’s life. Besides, he become a hunter because there was no way he was letting those people live who made Adeline suffer.
“Meadows, baby. Our last name is Meadows.”
(Yes, their romance was still top-notch)
Plot Twists and Turn Galore
The plot is intense and fast-paced. H.D. Carlton doesn’t hold back when it comes to suspense and drama. There are twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, bam—another curveball. It’s the kind of book where you might find yourself gasping out loud or muttering to yourself because you just can’t believe what’s happening next. You will be saying “NO way!” as you turn the pages.
Romance with a Dark Edge
The romance in “Hunting Adeline” is as intense as the suspense. Of course, it’s not all dark and gritty. The chemistry between Adeline and Zade is sizzling, and their relationship adds a spicy, emotional depth to the story. It’s not just about the thrill; it’s also about the complex dynamics between these two compelling characters. (Alexa play “Don’t Blame Me” by Taylor Swift)
If you’re a fan of dark thrillers with a side of romance, “Hunting Adeline” is definitely worth picking up. Just be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions and a plot that will keep you guessing until the very end. And if you haven’t read the first book in the series, I’d recommend starting there to get the full impact of the story.
Happy reading, everyone! Catch you in the next post!
P.S.- Still waiting for Sibby’s story, dear Carlton.
