I mean who doesn’t know about this book, right? If you don’t, then my friend go f*ck yourself somewhere. You are just surviving, this isn’t how you should live. YOU DISGRACE. So, ladies and gentlemen presenting – the one and only – “Haunting Adeline” by – the one and only – H.D. Carlton about – the one and only – ZADE MEADOWS. Yes, Zade is the high standard everyone talks about.
If you’re into dark romance with a side of suspense and horror, this book is totally your jam. Even if you are not into dark romance, read it anyways and get traumatized (*evil smirk*). Picture this: a creepy, atmospheric setting, a dash of supernatural elements, and a romance that will have you gripping you book (or e-reader) with white- knuckled excitement. The book that gave a new meaning to finger-banging. I never knew a gun and the house of mirror could be so seductive (if you know, you know).
The Manipulator
The story centers around Adeline, a woman whose life takes a turn for the eerie when she inherits her grandmother’s old house. It’s not just any house, though—it’s got a history that’s less than welcoming. Think creaky floors, strange noises, and a few ghostly whispers. She encounters a lot of creep stuff as she tries to solve a murder mystery. She calls herself a master manipulator as she manipulates people’s emotions with her words when they read her book. (We should call Carlton the same – she manipulated us into loving a stalker and normalizing everything else that comes with him. Well, I’m not complaining. I would sell my sister for a Zade Meadows too.)
The Shadow
Did you skipped to this part for reading about Zade or are you normal? I don’t know what will happen to me if my parents know what this book is about and how much I like it regardless and that I’m mentally dating Zade. I will be homeless that day I’m not even joking. So, let’s wrap my identity under covers for a while and talk about – the one and only – Zade Meadows.
Just as intriguing as he is mysterious, Zade with his knack for computer science builds an organization that saves women and children from human trafficking. Since he was a kid, his skills have surpassed even the top hackers in government organizations. Finding himself on the dark web and stumbling upon those videos was an accident that changed his life. He made it his mission to find all the people who do sick things to women and children for their pleasure and kill them all. (We need a Z in real life with all the increasing crimes against women.)
However, One day he saw Adeline and it’s definitely love at first sight. Reading the men’s pov was most satisfying in this book as finding out how much he was obsessed with his girl. As he said, he could have approached her in that bookstore and asked her out on a date, wood her, and all the other NORMAL stuff. But he showed her his true self, yeah, after he stalked her, gifted her the hands of the man she brought home, and the whole push and pull game. The new version of the cat and mouse game we all fall in love with.
I don’t know why this isn’t wrong. I have nothing to say to prove it wrong. Something is seriously wrong with me.
Someone said to me that stalkers are scary. However, Me after reading Haunting Adeline – Scary? My god, you’re divine.
A Haunting Romance
As Adeline settles into her new, unsettling home, she starts uncovering unsettling secrets from the past. The atmosphere Carlton creates is both haunting and magnetic, pulling us into a world where nothing is as it seems. There are some points where we question Zade’s intentions at every turn with all the brooding and enigmatic vibe he gives off. The chemistry between them crackles with tension and heat, and it’s not just about the supernatural elements – it’s about the way they connect and clash.
A Touch of Mystery
I don’t want to give away too much, but let’s just say the plot keeps you guessing and the twists are totally unexpected. There’s a fine balance between the spooky and the steamy, and Carlton manages to hit that sweet spot perfectly. If you love a good plot twist and characters who are complex and layered, this book is definitely worth a read.
A Cliffhanger
You’ll definitely find yourself caught off guard by the ending as it ends on a cliffhanger. But don’t you worry its second or the last part – Hunting Adeline- comes with a HEA. I initially thought to make only one blog about both the books but then I thought the better of it as I couldn’t have forgiven someone who would have give me a spoiler for that book even though I was desperate to read it after the shocking cliffhanger that I almost gave up food and everyday activities. So, I will definitely not become the person you hate for giving any spoiler of second book that has my heart.
Go Read It
I don’t know if you need more convincing for reading this book. If you’re not already halfway though the book, then you’re stupid, my friend (also, you’re not my friend anymore).
Warning here- Don’t read it alone in the dark unless you’re okay with jumping at every little noise! (You didn’t think I will warn you about the sexual and dark stuff, did you? Na bro, I will let you get a mini heart attack. Do someone really think girlies who has read this book are innocent? They deep down are hoping for a stalker to unlock their sexual kink.)
Happy reading, and let me know what you think of the book! Only people who are obsessed with Zade are allowed to comment here or on my Pinterest Board! Any hate is prohibited here!
P.S.- I really want Ana Huang and Carlton to Collab and write a story about Christian-Stella’s daughter and Zade-Adeline’s son. As Christian try to hack to see who the fuck is dating his daughter only to find he couldn’t find any data on the boy. (I saw this on Instagram one day.)
