Twisted Love (#1)

Hello, my fellow book lovers (or should I say steamy romance lovers)! Here to dish out some of my thoughts about a book “Twisted Love” from my favorite series of all time by Ana Huang. If you enjoy romance with a dash of complexity and a hefty dose of emotion, then buckle up babe, this one is ADDICTIVE romance!

Sunshine & Grumpy

A free-spirited aspiring photographer, Ava Chen, meets the brooding and ultra-serious COO of a hotshot development company, Alex Volkov.

Fun fact about Ava: She is the kind of girl who didn’t eat gingerbread man cookies for years after watching Shrek because she felt like she was eating Gingy’s family or worse Gingy himself.

(Not a made-up fact guys, go check out the book to fact-check ;))

Fun fact about Alex: He is an Asshole, Ava’s words not mine. But when we dive deep into the book and after reading all the other books of this series, we found out he really is an Asshole but not for Ava. For his Sunshine, he’d burn the world.

(And let me tell you people, he proved it. Well, Ofcourse not literally, but he did something which will peak up the standard of all the girls out there. It’s not something all men can do.)

Brother’s bestie

Ava’s brother leaves for a year and asks Alex, his best friend, to keep an eye on her. Let’s just say Alex takes “keeping an eye on her” to a whole new level.

(We could all notice him covering his jealousy with his promise to her brother. But that’s fine, after all, the boy was in love for the first time)

Operation: Melt the Iceberg

Ava finds Alex’s uptight personality annoying, so she and her friends launch a hilarious mission they call “Operation Emotion.” Their goal? To crack Alex’s icy exterior and make him smile (or at least grunt in approval).  This playful banter is where a lot of the book’s charm comes from.

(SPOILER: This plan failed miserably. Sorry readers, really tried to keep this to myself but what can we do, I’m a big gossiper. Is that even a word?)

Forbidden Love & Secret Agendas

This book has everything – Love and heartbreak, betrayal and redemption, regret and forgiveness. Is it ever a good idea to fall for your brother’s best friend? (My brother would have killed me but what can we say, it’s their life) But can their love survive the tangled web of Alex’s past? This forbidden romance is full of tension and will keep you guessing what happens next.

Book quotes

Book quotes from “Twisted Love”

  • “I love you” (What do you mean, this isn’t a quote? Men like Alex Volkov don’t say these three magical worlds daily. They say it when they mean it. It’s like it’s her or no one.)
  • “She was mine. She just didn’t know it yet”
  • “You don’t have to work overtime to get people to love you, Ava. Love isn’t earned, it’s given.”
  • “Don’t blame yourself for fucked-up things other people do.”

Warning

The only warning is that the book – “Twisted love” deals with mature themes.

(Oops, forgot this one, this book will make you have high standards. So high that you won’t be able to get over with it and will never make a real boyfriend. But girls, we deserve the world so why beg for love when there are men like Alex out there.)

Spoiler alert (regarding next book)

Here are the lines hinting the next book couple (If you know, you know) – Most people would’ve missed it, but I caught the heat in Bridget’s eyes when she looked at Rhys and the way his hand brushed hers for a second longer than it should’ve before he closed the door. Things I want to add:

  • After reading these books for so long, I can definitely say that murder is acceptable but cheating is not.
  • And there are moments where you just want to slap the characters and yell, “Can’t you see what’s right in front of you?!” But hey, isn’t that what makes a book feel real?
  • I also want to do something once after reading this book – Making cookies with Asparagus, raisins, and garlic brittle, just to check how horrible it really was.
(Why? You will find out soon, honey. Read the book, it’s worth the hype.)

So, if you’re in the mood for a story that’ll make you laugh, cry, and everything in between, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of “Twisted Love.” Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Frequently asked questions –

Q– Is “Twisted love” toxic or unhealthy story?

Ans- Personally, I don’t think someone, who has eyes for only one woman and showered her with gifts and love for a year just to ask for her forgiveness and win her back, could be some toxic. Moreover, it’s not their fault, they had messed up families since all the drama starts with it.

Q- Does the book contain s*x scenes?

Ans- Ofcourse, duh.
