Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting – “King of Pride” by Ana Huang, the second book from Kings of Sin series. This tale is a captivating blend of opposites attract, slow burn romance, forbidden desire, and the complexities of ambition. This contemporary romance whisks readers into the rich world of the British monarchy, where secrets, scandals, and sizzling chemistry collide.
For all the girls who think smart is sexy. (And who know the quiet ones are the freakiest).
It’s a story that grips you from the first page…..like, who wouldn’t be captivated by the mention of glow-in-the-dark condoms. On the top of that, the hero of our story also overheard this condom chat. He had a knack for catching the most bizarre conversations. Captivating isn’t it?
Opposites Attract
Kai and Isabella are polar opposites. Heir to a multibillion-dollar media empire, and owner of an uncanny ability to show up in the middle of my most embarrassing conversations of Isabella every time, Kai Young. The epitome of control. On the other hand, Isabella Valencia is a free-spirited bartender with a penchant for trouble. Purple-black hair. Tattoos inking the inside of her left wrist. A erotic thriller writer(I would like anybody who is writing a story about the deadly relationship between a wealthy attorney and a naive waitress turned mistress). Their initial interactions are marked by clashing personalities and mutual dislike.
(It’s the perfect example of real life – “Cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in, So shame on me now”. Best type of opposites attracts. Not even kidding.)
Forbidden Love and High Stakes
The story takes an intriguing turn when Isabella finds herself caught in Kai’s world. But as a bartender at an exclusive club, she is forbidden from mingling with members, including Kai. This forbidden aspect adds a layer of excitement and tension to their relationship. As their feelings deepen, they must navigate the complexities of their forbidden love while facing external pressures.
A World of Glamour and Ambition
Beyond the steamy romance, King of Pride focuses on character development. We follow Kai’s journey as he struggles with his ambition and the fear of vulnerability. Readers can relate to Isabella’s difficulties with self-doubt and figuring out where she fits in.
(I also like how she defined her hobby as a pianist – “I didn’t want to be a professional pianist. Never had, never will. There was a special magic in loving something without capitalizing on it, and I was comforted by the idea that there was at least one thing in my life I could turn to with no expectations, pressures, or guilt.” I’m feeling the same kind of magic with my blog. I’m just so happy someone could put my thoughts into words.)
Passionate Romance
“That there’s no going back after this.” His admission was a warm breath on my skin. “You should’ve never let me take you, Isabella. Because now that I have, I won’t be able to let you go.”
You know why these books differ so much from reality because no one puts that much effort into a relationship or anything else. He consults a neurologist over her girlfriend’s writer’s block. And he presented it as if it were no big deal, which is the complete opposite of reality. Most people justify how difficult it was or how much they have done. They want their partners to be thankful for the bare minimum. Like, what the hell. The thoughtful things the men in the books do justifies the fact that they are actually man written by a woman.
“Isabella.” I forced a swallow down my throat. “Yes?” “Shut up and let me kiss you.”
“I’m not surprised,” I murmured. “You do have a special fondness for condoms, especially of the—” “Kai.” “Hmm?” “Shut up and kiss me.”
These are the lines that got me hooked to the book. Oh oh! One more! The ending! The MOST beautiful ending!
We’d had to face plenty of tough questions to get to where we were today, but my next question was the hardest and easiest one of all. “Isabella Valencia, will you marry me?”
So, grab a copy, settle in for a delightful adventure, and read the captivating story that blends intense chemistry, forbidden love, and character development into a compelling story.

(The way I got more points for Dante being THE standard in this book is so beautiful. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you missed out my last blog. Go check it out and also leave you sanity here. I don’t want people judging my love for Dante. Only an insane person couldn’t.*Giggling hard* the obsession isn’t really ending anytime soon.)
